Temple of Dendera
On the West Bank of Qena city 60km north of Luxor. It is one of the Graeco-Roman temples for the worship of goddess Hathor. It was built by King Ptolemy III and its construction was completed by the Roman Emperors. The ceiling of the huge hypostyle hall has an astronomic decoration with the symbolic representation of the sky being traversed by many deities. The crypt is of great fascination as well as the so-called Zodiac ceiling in a small room on an upper level.
